Sometimes the hidden spaces are what need some organization the most.

Here are a few good reasons to throw away old household cleaners instead of keeping them around:

1. Effectiveness fades – Many cleaners lose their potency over time. Ingredients like bleach, hydrogen peroxide, or disinfectants break down, making the product less effective (sometimes basically just water).
2. Chemical changes – Some cleaners can separate or change composition as they age, which may make them less safe to use or cause streaking, residue, or damage to surfaces.
3. Safety risks – Old containers can leak, crack, or corrode. If chemicals evaporate, they may give off harmful fumes. Expired or unstable mixtures (like old bleach or ammonia-based cleaners) can also become hazardous.
