Countdown to TBWA 2026 Summer of STEM
HOW IS IT ALREADY the last day of school?!?
Today is all about watching our kids grow ten feet tall (metaphorically, of course!). Data shows that 66% of parents look to summer programs as a key opportunity to build their child's confidence. In TBWA playful STEM activities, we celebrate mistakes as "data points" and failures as "first attempts in learning." When kids realize they can design a solution to a tough problem entirely on their own, their confidence skyrockets! 🚀🌟
What is one thing that made your child feel incredibly proud recently? Share your wins in the comments! 🥇

Recess is Just As Important as Academics in Elementary Years.
We often view elementary school recess as a simple break from academics, but those 20–30 minutes of unstructured play are some of the most productive moments of a child's day. When students are given the freedom to play without a script, they are building the foundations for lifelong success.
The Triple Threat of Play Benefits:
Physical 🏃♂️: Beyond burning off energy, free play develops gross motor skills, cardiovascular health, and spatial awareness. Whether it's climbing, jumping, or sprinting, kids are building stronger bodies in a way that feels like pure fun.
Social 🤝: The playground is where "soft skills" are born. Without an adult directing the action, children must learn to negotiate rules, resolve conflicts, share equipment, and collaborate on imaginative games. These are the building blocks of emotional intelligence.
Emotional ❤️: Free play acts as a natural stress-reliever. It gives children a sense of agency and autonomy, boosting their self-confidence and helping them regulate their emotions after a morning of focused desk work.
The Bottom Line: Recess isn't an "extra"—it’s a developmental necessity. When we protect free play, we are supporting the whole child.
What was your favorite playground game?
Ever notice how a quick run-around or a dance party in the kitchen can totally flip the mood when everyone is feeling "cranky-tired"?
It’s not just a distraction—it’s biology in action! 🧠⚡️
When we face a long day of school or work, our bodies build up cortisol (the "stress hormone"). Think of it like a sticky residue that leaves us feeling foggy, impatient, and worn out.
Enter Cardio: The Clean-Up Crew. 🏃💨
Getting the heart pumping does more than just build muscle—it literally flushes that "stress stickiness" out of our systems. It’s like hitting a physical reset button for your brain and body.
Why this matters for your family:
Focus: Flushing out stress makes room for better concentration (goodbye, homework meltdowns!).
Recovery: Teaching our hearts to go from "fast" back to "calm" helps us manage big emotions.
Energy: A clear system means a more "ready-to-play" engine.
We’ve been diving deep into the science of how our bodies handle the "daily hustle" and finding some pretty cool ways to master it.
Want to know the secret to training your family's "Recovery Muscle"? Keep an eye out—we have something exciting in the works that will let you and your kids see this science in action! 🧪❤️
