Adding character to Project Silk Road has been one of those slow, intentional processes where every room tells part of the story. Room by room, we’ve layered in pieces that feel collected, personal, and deeply connected to the people who live here.

In the bedroom, we wanted to create a moment of drama and warmth, so we designed a custom fireplace surround centered around this incredible vintage fireplace grate. The couple found it tucked away in a small antique shop during their travels years ago and held onto it ever since — convinced the right home would eventually reveal itself.

And here it is. A piece once discovered on the road now grounding the heart of their home, inspiring an architectural feature that feels as though it has always belonged here. That’s the magic of designing with meaning instead of simply filling a space.
