One of the many beautiful things about this model of medicine is the understanding that the body is not separate from all of the dimensions of the self. This means that treating chronic pain allows us to simultaneously treat other long standing patterns, like emotional states and ways of being that keep pain mobilized in the tissues

From knowing, to not knowing

Our minds are evolutionarily designed to want to know. In the face of not knowing, our minds often tend to experience fear or anxiety. In an effort to try and quiet the discomfort that arises, we generate a wide range of content, aka, we make stuff up.

In Chinese medicine, we say that wisdom is cultivated to the degree that we can experience ease in the face of the unknown

Moxa forever and ever and ever. Have you experienced it before?

I was just recently doing moxa on someone for the first time and they described it so perfectly. “It feels like stepping into a warm bath. I feel the warmth going so deep into my body”

Why we use it in Chinese Medicine:

-strengthens and builds blood (previous post)

-warms the tissues, increases oxygenation and blood flow, alleviates pain, stiffness, and inflammation

-eases bloating, IBS related discomfort, improves overall GI function
