Litany of Humility

St Francis discovered that one of the hardest addictions to break is not wealth, comfort, or success but the need to be wanted.

To be constantly reassured.
Constantly chosen.
Constantly noticed.

A soul that depends on human affection will always tremble when ignored. But St Francis walked another road. He let God empty him of the hunger for approval so his heart could become untouchable by the opinions of the world.

The holiest people are not cold.
They simply no longer beg to be loved.

They know they already are.

There is a strange peace that comes when you stop chasing affection from people who cannot heal the loneliness inside you. That space begins to belong to God.

And suddenly:
rejection loses power,
silence stops frightening you,
and love becomes something you give not something you desperately need to survive.

Maybe that is why the saints carried so much peace. Their hearts were no longer chained to being accepted.

Practical ways to live this:

🔸️ Do one good deed today without telling anyone.

🔸 ️Spend time in silence instead of seeking validation online.

🔸️ When overlooked or unappreciated, offer it quietly to God.

🔸️ Ask yourself: “Am I loving others, or needing something from them?”

🔸️ Let God’s opinion of you become louder than the world’s.

The saints became free when they stopped living to be seen.
