I've devoted a portion of my clinical practice to rescuing implant-compromised cases related to screw and abutment fractures. I credit my high success rate to many years of experience, dental microscope use in all of my operatories, and a strict treatment protocol. Patient was referred to me for implant rescue. The case included:
1. Initial radiograph
2. Pre-op photos
3. Laser treatment
4. Square end driver
5. Conical connection surface identification
6. Implant brand identification
7. Treatment plan

There appears to be a miss match between implant abutment/fixture interfaces. The abutment that was presented with the crown did not match the true hex configuration of the fixture located in the patient’s mouth. A Branemark healing abutment was placed and a new radiograph was taken to verify fit.

A Key West dentist referred his patient to me for implant rescue. The implant fixtures were identified as Straumann BL RC from the X-rays taken. The implant abutments and screws were removed by conventional and drill out slotted methods. New healing abutments were placed and the patient was referred back to his dentist for continued care. A Leica MS5 microscope was used to treat this case.
