Farm to flag, with dear friends and family. 🇺🇸

Yesterday at Coggeshall Farm’s Sheep & Wool Festival, we got to watch a beautiful American flag being made the old way from sheep to shears, fleece to fiber, fiber to fabric, and fabric to stitch.

The kids watched the sheep being sheared, the herding dogs do their work and the good folks from Old Sturbridge Village walk everyone through the whole process of washing, dyeing, spinning, weaving and sewing.

That flag will fly in Bristol’s Fourth of July parade, America’s oldest continuous Fourth of July celebration, for our nation’s 250th birthday.

It was such a special day. One of those old-fashioned New England afternoons that makes you grateful for good people, old skills, and this country we get to call home.

For anyone local, put this one on your list for next year. It was wonderful. 🐑🧶🇺🇸
