🐾🇺🇸 4th of July Dog Safety Guide. Save this one!

Did you know July 5th is the busiest day of the year at animal shelters? More dogs go missing on the Fourth of July than any other day because fireworks that feel exciting to us can be terrifying for them. Dogs hear and feel those loud booms much more intensely than we do.

Before the fireworks, tire them out with a morning walk, create a quiet space away from windows, turn on calming music or white noise, and make sure their ID tags and microchip information are up to date.

Once the fireworks begin, keep them indoors, close the blinds, stay calm because they’ll often take their cues from you, keep them on a leash even in your own backyard, and skip the cookout scraps since many holiday foods aren’t safe for dogs.

And before the festivities begin, make sure their belly is full of real, wholesome food. 🌿
