If you want to find common ground, try talking less and listening more. 👂

Take your time and pay attention to how the other person feels before you share your own point of view.

You might say, “I’m hearing that you felt dismissed after what I said. Did I get that right?”

Tension drops and defensiveness fades when people feel heard and seen. Both sides become more open, and it’s easier to find a way forward once everyone feels understood. 🤝

Ask your partner this question:

“How would you describe me to someone who has never met me?” ❓

This question is simple, but it can lead to a meaningful conversation. You’ll hear what your partner notices about you, your values, and what traits stand out to them.

It also gives them a chance to think about who you are beyond your daily routines.

Try using this as a way to check in and connect. You can also ask, “What do you admire most?” or “What do you think I’ve been carrying lately?”

You'll learn more about each other, and your connection usually deepens in the process. 💙
