Florida's Children First
Our approach to advocacy depends on the issue, the desired result and the population to be served.

Creating change takes more than one approach or organization; it takes commitment at every level.
At Florida's Children First, we work across systems to protect and advance the rights of children and youth impacted by child welfare, juvenile justice, and disability systems. Through policy reform, nurturing and supporting the youth in the system, and training those who serve them, we’re building a system that truly puts children first.
Because every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.

We had an incredible time at the 2026 Miami-Dade Advocates for Children Awards—bringing together passionate advocates, partners, and friends to celebrate the people making a real difference in the lives of children.
A heartfelt congratulations again to our amazing honorees: Mary Cagle, Alex Rizo, and Knowledge Grant. Your dedication and impact inspire us all.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported this event, and continues to stand with Florida’s Children First in the fight for children’s rights. We’re so grateful for this community.
This is Sean’s story, “Here Lies My Heart: Will Time Let It Heal?”
Sean shares what it felt like to grow up facing hunger, waking up to empty fridges, uncertainty, and the lasting impact it had on how he saw himself and the world around him.
Through his story, Sean reflects on how something as basic as food can shape a child’s sense of safety, stability, and worth.
His experience of his time in and aging out of foster care is a reminder that no child should have to endure hunger, and that being seen, supported, and cared for can make all the difference.
