Our Story

Alamo RC&D Area Inc. helps through such activities as:
1. Senior Assistance Programs
2. Youth Gardening and Environmental Programs
3. Soil and Water Conservation Workshops
4. Environmental Concerns & Education online and in workshops
6. Farm and Ranch Concerns, Sustainable Agriculture/ Seminars and Agri-Land Workshops
7. Disaster Relief/Hurricane Harvey Relief Program
8. Community Development Assistance

With the help of local concerned citizens, like yourself, Alamo RCD improves the lives of those who live within the Rural Communities in the Bexar County Metro area and in Kerr and Frio Counties. Central Texas is a wonderful area to live due to all the resources available and we need to protect those resources including our water and lands. We also feel that our elderly that primed this land way before our time, now need our assistance. Our future also is dependent on the next generation. Our youth are important to the future of our agriculture and our environment so we strive to help our youth become great leaders, grow in academic strength and also strive to enhance environmental stewardship and a love for gardening in their every day lives. We also assist those who have had their lives destroyed by Natural or man made disasters. We work with local first responders to increase their capacity to assist in the times of need and we also provide direct basic needs assistance to families who have been impacted by a community wide disaster in our service area. We also offer our technical assistance to other nonprofits and service agencies who need training in the areas of Governance, Fiscal Responsibility, Fundraising, Budgeting, Grant Writing & Management Training and more so that they can make their missions happen.

We are all volunteers and we live within the multiple counties that we serve. We sometimes know first hand where the needs are but we often depend on YOU to let us know.
