The Banking Screen-Matching
Don't see a match?

Sometimes you will have a lot of transactions for the same type and amount. For example, you may get payments for $500 for a standard service you provide to several customers. So at the beginning of the month several deposits come into your bank, all from different customers but for the same amount. QB will try to match these up accordingly, but as in the previous example, sometimes it may not find the exact vendor/customer to match to. If you don't see the correct transaction suggested, you can click Find Other Matches. This will take you to the screen below where you can select the correct transaction to match to.

The Banking Screen - What Is It?

The Banking Screen is where most people spend a lot of time in QuickBooks Online. It is where bank transactions can be directly imported from your checking, savings, and credit card accounts.
The first thing to do is connect or link your bank accounts. Once your accounts are linked you can then use the banking screen a couple of different ways:
*Match bank transactions in the bank screen to transactions recorded in QuickBooks Online.
*Add bank transactions from the bank screen to QuickBooks Online.
Which way you use the banking screen depends on your business. Matching often works best for larger small businesses who have a dedicated accounting person who is recording transactions in QuickBooks Online as they happen (not from a bank statement). Adding transactions from the bank feed is usually best for sole proprietors who are tracking expenses after they occur. And more often than not, most businesses uses a combination of matching and adding in the Banking Screen.
