The Boise City Writer-in-Residence application is now open. This six-month residency supports emerging and mid-career writers with a $5,000 stipend and the opportunity to create free literary programs for the community through Boise Public Library, The Cabin, and the City of Boise.

Characters have a way of surprising us.
A voice, a choice, a single action—
and suddenly, someone imagined begins to feel real.
Join Boise City Writer-in-Residence Don Zancanella for a generative writing workshop on the magic of fiction.
Through playful exercises, we’ll explore how characters come to life and how curiosity can lead stories in unexpected directions.
Writers of all levels and genres are welcome.
