Una Paloma Branca: Tonight on Drift Correction I'll be paying tribute to guitarist, avant composer, No Wave pioneer, Glenn Branca, who passed away a week ago today. I'll be playing compositions by the man himself, some of his contemporaries, and his acolytes. With Branca, Rhys Chatham, Theoretical Girls, Sonic Youth and more. Two perhaps not-very-well-known facts: 1) Even now if I had to pick, Husker Du's Zen Arcade would still be on my list of desert island discs. 2) Out of a love for every genre, a doorway appears to farther pavilions. From punk to other worlds, the Huskers were those doormen. Tonight a tribute to the punk/pop lyricism of recently passed Husker drummer Grant Hart, among other things, including another tip of the cap to Holger Czukay, on Drift Correction tonight at 8pm MDT on 89.9fm. 93.5fm or radioboise.org. Any excuse to play German band Can is a good one, so I'll be paying tribute to this guy, bass player Holger Czukay. Also, an ode to King Loser's Celia Mancini and poet John Ashbery. Tonight on Drift Correction 8pm MDT.
