"If my clothes, my camera, and my tripod aren't dirty, then I'm not trying hard enough"

Photographing MLB's Opening Day for the San Francisco Giants 04/25/2022

Being a die-hard San Francisco Giants fan, this story was really fun for me to write. I interviewed Giants team photographer Andy Kuno about the excitement of photographing MLB's Opening Day at San Francisco's Oracle Park, as well as the challenges he faced capturing a chaotic and shortened spring training due to the owner lockout.

A nice surprise to see the U.S. Department of the Interior share one of my favorite photos from one of my favorite places! Has anyone ever been to Bryce Canyon National Park in the winter? Yes, it's as incredible as it looks. But make sure to wear 33 layers as it will most likely around 0ºF 🥶

To celebrate, I am giving 10% off of this fine art print, or any fine art print in my store, by using the coupon NationalParks at check out.

I printed this one a couple of weeks ago for a collector, and I can tell you, it looks damn good on a wall!

Surreal and beautiful, odd-shaped pillars create a forest of stone at Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. Catching a sunrise here in winter means braving frigid temps, but you're rewarded with incredible light and peaceful surroundings. Dawn unveils a breathtaking show of vivid skies that frame the unique formations of the canyon. Know the conditions before you make the trek, but definitely add Bryce Canyon to your bucket list. Thank you for all the birthday love! Another trip around the sun complete. This birthday was bittersweet however, as right now I am supposed to be back in Mongolia documenting the continuing journey of these two amazing people. 13-year-old Eagle Huntress Aigerem and her Eagle Master Dalaikhan. But obviously, 2020 happened, so instead I spent my birthday here in Boise, Idaho.

I never expected my birthday to look like this. We are still socially distancing, and people are still struggling and out of work. So in order to bring a little light to your life and a little spice to your home, I have decided to celebrate my birthday by giving YOU a gift. A free print at home photo! And unlike my previous free print at home giveaways, this one is bigger and better, with 11 photos to choose from! Check the link in my profile or my stories to claim yours before it’s too late!

I can't wait to start seeing the photos you send me of these photos adorning your walls!

Embrace the Chaos. That was one of my talking points in my discussion with my friends at this morning to kick off event. Often, experiences aren't as they seem, but embracing that chaos that comes with that leads to more memorable experiences. The Yee Peng Festival in Chiang Mai, Thailand wasn't anything like I expected. I envisioned a quiet, peaceful setting as the thousands of laterns were released, but the reality was, it was chaotic! Thousands of people standing shoulder to shoulder hooting and hollering as the crowd's excitement was finally released. I wasn't ready for such a fast moving and chaotic enviornment, but I couldn't wipe the smile off my face as this beautiful scene unfolded in front of me.

14 Thought-Provoking Quotes From a Conversation With Chris Burkard - Michael Bonocore 08/12/2020

I was lucky to sit down with Chris Burkard Photography at Sony Kando for an in depth video discussion about his love for travel and storytelling. Chris talks candidly about the often difficult lifestyle he lives as an independent creative, from the loneliness of living a 'vagabond' lifestyle to how he almost quit in the middle of filming 'Under an Arctic Sky.' And in my favorite moment, he discusses the powerful photo that he captured in Nicaragua that, to this day, keeps him up at night.

Scenes from a Maasai Village in Tanzania, 2015.

I often find myself going through old photos of people I have met on my journey and wondering what their lives are like today. Having been 5 years since I captured this image, this boy would be considerably older. Although he grew up in a remote Maasai village in Tanzania, he isn't immune from the world's troubles. Has COVID-19 affected his village? His family? Himself? Is he safe? Happy? I don't know, and most likely never will. All I can do is hope that he is safe, happy and living the best life that he possibly can.

Missing those Mongolian sunsets right about now. I took this photo of 13-year-old Eagle Huntress Aigerem Askar and her Eagle Master Dalaikhan Boshar in the late afternoon golden light as they climbed the mountain from the valley where Aigerem was competing in the Altai Nomadic Games. Read my inspiring story and watch the film of how this 13-year-old Eagle Huntress competed against dozens of grown men...and taught them a thing or two about how to be a true Mongolian Eagle Hunter.
