My memoir is nearly finished being drafted.

To anyone curious about the writing process, you write the book, it takes forever, you over think it, remind yourself it's the first draft the whole time, and then you finish it someday.

After the first draft is done, you go back through it, chapter by chapter, line by line, overthink it some more, add things, take away things, clean up the chapters so they "make sense" for someone else to read it.

You then have some choices, have a friend read it, have some strangers read it, hire people who have experience in reading books and marking them up with their developmental ideas. (This isn't the same as the final edit, this is the step before.)

You then take those suggestions, add the ones you like, and then your draft is ready for it's final edit.

Once you're here, you try to find a human, who is interested in your genre, and has experience editing in your genre. They typically offer different types of edits, and all in all, you pay a couple hundred to a thousand dollars paying for the final edit.

Once that editor goes through, you add their suggested edits, and then your book is ready for mass eyes on it!

No big deal, just chasing dreams over here 🤣🙌✨️

Little girl,
I see your pain. I see your suffering. You keep it in a lockbox on your sleeve, right next to the key, just waiting for someone to see it.
You hide behind that bottle like maybe somehow, someone will see all of the hurt, magnified by the liquid. Just like the tears on your cheeks magnify your freckles.
Every single mark, different, unique in the way that it has shaped you.
You talk to strangers like their your best friends, your value measured by your false intimacy, your worth defined by the laughs you draw from them.
You avoid alone time, you stay busy, because the minute you are alone you are surrounded by every demon you've crossed along the way.
The damage is done, no need to go back there.
So you run to the next, as if you've forgotten the dis ease you're plotting to escape from, comes from where you are headed.
A perpetual cycle of malice and discontent.
Little girl, you are a light.
You are your own savior.
No need to give the key away.
Wipe those tears from your eyes.
Put away the bottle.
Unleash the warrior within, fighting to protect you from those demons you flee from so desperately.
Release the belief you won't make it.
I want you to know, little girl, why not you?
Rewrite the narrative in your mind telling you to stay small, quiet, weak.
Turn your pain into power, your lessons into experiences.
Let the path you have illuminated for yourself help others who may need to know that they are safe.
See yourself, little girl.
Your world, your life, is now yours to co-create.
Nobody can steal your light.

This book digs into the complex emotion, fear.

Fear and anxiety are common in young ones, giving them the tools to move through these big feelings could save them from years of unnecessary stress.

Like the first book, we follow Fiona as she makes her way through the day, using tools to keep her mind clear and her heart steady.

Packed with 8 extra pages of illustrations, breathing and grounding techniques, and written with love by yours truly, it's the perfect addition to your favorite kiddo's bookshelf❤️

She's uploaded!!

I am so excited to share this with you all!

This book has 10 more pages than book 1, and focuses on one of my biggest emotions, fear.

The conversation for mental health should start early, we don't have to wait until our children grow to teach them about themselves, to normalize feelings otherwise shoved away and internalized, or to give them the tools to work through these big emotions.

The future depends on us guiding our youth to their inner knowing. When we show them the way, they don't have to face the same adversity we have, with awareness comes change, and some change would do the world some good right about now.

If you have the first book, please check out the second! The series will continue as I raise the funds to illustrate/format the next! She's already written ✨️

Book 2 will be available on the link on my website April 1st 🤗

'Fiona's Forest of Fears a Way through Worry' will be available on Amazon and through the link on my website, April 1st!

Like the first book in the series, this story follows Fiona, as she navigates through anxiety and fear.

She taught us how to name our emotions in the first book, how to calm herself when her feelings get too big.

Now she takes us through a typical day in her magical forest, exploring things that make her anxious, and explaining how she overcomes the fear.

Like the first book, this story has vivid imagery, tips for self-regulation, and a few extra pages to help start the conversation about anxiety with our kiddos!

Check out my website, sarahllane.com, for more information!

I will order copies for local sale as soon as she has been approved on both platforms!

Bookstores will also be able to purchase both, in bulk, on my website soon too!

Here are a few of my favorite pages 🤗

It's Ok

It's ok to fall away from the people you once knew.
To carry love from afar while you do what you must do.
To dream up a life of wonderful things and hope for depth and endless glory; for them, for you, for everyone; all the while, on your blank page, writing your new story.
In fact, it'd be a sight to see, staying too long in mismatched places; an abandonment of self, so deep, trapped in one of your own mazes.
It's ok to fall away from old versions of yourself; in fact, nature demands it, like the seasons and the swells.
The moral here, from me to you, you should grow.
You should frolic, you should mingle, you should group, you should single; you should live a life that makes you whole, find hidden gems on every stroll.
I thank the Universe everyday, for me, for you, for everyone, and the opportunity to stay.

Move...

I often wonder who chose the hustle.

What man or woman looked at the beauty surrounding us and thought, we ought to stay busy, missing every moment gifted to us by the divine.

How we humans fell so deeply into distrust of our natural remedies and put all our faith into synthetic versions of the truth.

The more I wander, the more transparency is revealed to me. If a bird can roam freely, singing songs, communicating with it’s brotheren, why can’t we.

Instead we view the world from a lens we never chose, complying with the expectations that hold us in a place of fear and divide.

I offer you another view, the one outside your window.

If that view brings you sorrow, I remind you, we are here to move.

We are here to experience, to change, to grow.

Each day, an offering of renewed vigor. The constraints we create in our minds are the only thing holding us back.

Plant yourself where you feel you can flourish, for there are many places to be.

If you feel you don’t belong where you currently sit, maybe you don’t.

Lucky for us, this planet is filled with others, just waiting for someone like you to arrive.

Move, saturate yourself in love.

The rest will fall together, if you allow it to.
