Is it ok to share toilets when you’re on chemo? Yes! Some doctors will recommend having a dedicated bathroom for the person getting chemo, but that isn’t always realistic! The recommendation is that if you don’t have a second toilet in your home- that you should flush the toilet twice after using the restroom. (With the lid closed)

Chemotherapy is processed in your body and generally excreted from your bowel or bladder (aka in your p*e or p**p) within 72 hours of your treatment. This means there can be traces of chemotherapy in your body fluids, so you should flush the toilet twice. The first flush is to get rid of the p*e or p**p. The second flush rinses the toilet to reduce any exposure of chemo left after the first flush.

In the most basic ways- immunotherapy helps spotlight the cancer cells so your immune system can identify them and go fight them.

Targeted Therapies are prescribed to people after genomic testing is done. With genomic testing it helps identify mutations in the cancer cells. The medications then target the mutation by binding with the part of the mutation that tells the cancer cells to keep replicating. This stops the cancer cells from continuing to reproduce. These are very specific with what they bind to- hence the term ‘Targeted’ therapies.
