We are saddened to hear the heartbreaking news of the passing of decorated Boston firefighter Billy Carey.

Billy was so much more than the uniform he wore. He was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, a gifted singer who could light up a room, and a passionate advocate in the fight against occupational cancer. He served the people of Boston Fire Department with courage and heart, always putting others before himself.

Those who knew Billy knew his strength, but they also knew his kindness. He cared deeply for his family, his friends, and his brothers and sisters on the job.

His loss leaves a space that cannot be filled. He will be missed beyond words and remembered always for the way he showed up for others every single day.
