Celebrating Juneteenth — a powerful reminder of freedom, resilience, progress, and the enduring strength of community.
Today, The Reede Scholars honors the generations whose courage shaped history and continues to inspire the pursuit of equity, education, and better health outcomes for all. As we reflect on the significance of June 19, 1865, we also recommit ourselves to advancing opportunities that empower and uplift underserved communities.
May this day be filled with reflection, celebration, unity, and hope for a brighter future.

As I reflect on 12 incredible years serving as President of Reede Scholars, I am filled with gratitude for the many people who made this journey so meaningful.
Thank you to our Executive Committee, Board of Directors, Chairperson Cynthia Hodge, advisor Ralph Fuccillo, our dedicated staff, and the entire Reede Scholars membership. Your leadership, support, and commitment have been the foundation of our success.
A special thank you to Dr. Joan Reede, whose vision, leadership, and legacy continue to inspire all of us to advance equity and build stronger communities.
And congratulations to our new leadership team—Kevin Simon, Frinny Polanco, and Trenika Williams. I am excited to see Reede Scholars continue to grow and thrive under your leadership, and I will be cheering you on every step of the way.
Serving this organization has been one of the greatest honors of my life. Thank you for the memories, the partnerships, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact together.

With Gratitude,

Dr. Mary Fleming
