Officiated a beautiful memorial service this morning in Walpole. The decedent and his family worked with my friend Aimee Yawnick (End-of-Life Coach and Doula). He and his family looked his death square in the eye and leaned in together, with open hearts and minds, celebrating him in the ways he wanted to be celebrated: funny voicemails, tender eulogies, a live singing of "Let It Be," bagpipes, the 23rd Psalm, some artfully-chosen curse words, lots of tears and laughs.

Delaney Funeral Home in Walpole did a great job, and United Church in Walpole generously provided space in their newly renovated sanctuary. This space is available for memorials for people in the community who want to use it - you don't have to be a member or connected to the church!

You can call us to talk *before* it's time to plan a funeral or memorial service. It's always better to talk about what's going on, even if it's hard to do. If someone you know and love is sick, thinking about hospice, or approaching end-of-life, we'd be happy to talk with you, over the phone or in person. You're not alone! Jonathan supported two families today, one burying ashes at Fairmount Cemetery in Weymouth, another scattering ashes at Fairview Cemetery in Scituate. In Weymouth, everyone had a chuckle at the Jets flag adorning a nearby headstone. In Scituate, we listened to Neil Diamond’s Forever In Bluejeans - great song! - and just as it ended, a thunderclap hit….’Mom getting in the last word.’ 😀
