The Union Oyster House building is around 250 years old. It is the oldest restaurant in Boston and the oldest restaurant in continuous service. The doors have been open to diners since 1826.

Before it was a restaurant it was used for a fancy dress goods.

In 1771 printer Isaiah Thomas published his newspaper, “The Massachusetts Spy” in the upper floor of the building, long known as the oldest newspaper in the United States.
