Butterfly Absinthe

On , we salute Patrick Dempsey, born 201 years ago today in Ireland. He emigrated to the USA and founded the company who launched me in Boston in the early years of the last century. 200 years ago today, on St. Patrick’s Day 1822, Patrick Dempsey was born in County Wicklow, Ireland. Like so many from that beautiful country, he moved to the USA, creating a liquor company, P. Dempsey & Co. in Boston. The company launched Butterfly Absinthe c. 1902, but sadly the company died following the ban of absinthe & prohibition. A Boston-based cocktail historian found the company's hand-written recipe book, and collectors found an original bottle. With the help of Claude-Alsin Bugnon, the distiller of La Clandestine Absinthe Butterfly is now back in the USA & in Japan, and many other countries in Europe. We recommend Butterfly in a Bloody Fairy!

It's National Pet Day and on Instagram, we found this dog in Japan. He/she seems to have taken a fancy to fine absinthe.
