We are beyond excited to announce the launch of Harvest - a collaboration of urban farming and public art with and . 🤘😍🤘

🌱 This spring, Students at the schools have been getting their hands in soil at outdoor activities with educators, activists and artists covering a wide range of farming and creative workshops. This week, the final workshops will be joined by three artists who will translate the students concepts and ideas into massive public artworks at Mario Umana Academy and Bradley Elementary School in East Boston.

Stay tuned as we announce the three participating artists, post photos from the last several weeks of planting and creating, and share the progress as we turn large, brutalist walls into massive works of art for generations of students in East Boston.

Sharks: not the monsters of the deep, but the protectors of balance in our oceans. Did you know that the resurgence of white sharks in the Northeast US is a conservation victory? Healthy shark populations = healthier seas. Protect what you love.

Whom does climate change impact the most? What can you do about it? After a little Climate 101, we explored these and other hard-hitting questions to hone in on the injustice and identify some impactful actions.

Social Justice Retreat was an opportunity for middle school students to engage in conversations about identity + privilege in relation to social justice topics. The day consists of workshops on topics like sea level rise, food insecurity, fast fashion and climate change and how they intersect with our identities with a goal to heighten awareness and take action in our local communities. During the workshops, facilitators supported the students to work together, share stories, acknowledge differences, and find commonalities-- with the aim to build a deeper, more inclusive + committed community.

Huge thanks to HarborArts family and crew member for facilitating this awesome workshop!!

🔔TODAY at 12PM EST: Join the City of Boston's Community Preservation Act meeting! 🔗 in bio

The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) is currently meeting to review the FY2022 applications and recommend projects for funding to the Mayor and City Council by February 2022. Please join us in support of our beloved Nantucket Lightship LV-112 as they are considered by the CPC for funding, which will support the continued restoration of this important National Historic Landmark.

The Nantucket Lightship is an integral part of the East Boston landscape. We are grateful to the Nantucket for serving our community as an educational resource and a gathering space where our neighbors experience history, culture, and community on Boston Harbor. The lightship has played a critical role in making the Harbor an inclusive and accessible waterfront for all.
