The Penguin Lady

So...this may not be a penguin story. But it IS a story about another aquatic creature. And a local (and personal) story for me. If you missed this viral news item, a baby gator was rescued from the Charles River in Boston yesterday. And it's being taken care of by the BEST vet in the biz!!

The man in the photo below is Dr. Greg Mertz, otherwise known as The Odd Pet Vet. He was my professor when I went back to college at 32 to earn my BS in Animal Science, and to become a veterinary nurse. He was a fantastic instructor who really cared about his students, a brilliant and compassionate veterinarian, and just an all-around awesome human. I did an internship with Greg at the New England Wildlife Center my senior year, and learned a TON from him!! SO glad this little guy is under his care. If anyone can save him, it's Dr. Mertz! 🐊🩺💗
