The Sea Machines Story

Headquartered in the global tech hub of Boston and operating globally, Sea Machines is a leader in pioneering autonomous control and advanced perception systems for the maritime industry. Founded in 2015, the company builds autonomous vessel software and systems, which increases the safety, efficiency and performance of ships, workboats and commercial surface vessels.

In Quarter 3 2018, the company will release its first product, the SM300, which has been purpose-built for workboats, including patrol boats and ferries. It provides direct remote command within a one-kilometer range and autonomous, computerized control for piloting missions with real-time, self-awareness to maintain plan and course, and avoid obstacles.

Later in 2018, the company will trial its industry-leading perception and situational awareness technology aboard one of Maersk’s new-build Winter Palace ice-class container ships. The deal is significant not only to Sea Machines and Maersk, but also to the larger maritime industry as the installation marks first time computer vision, Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and perception software will be utilized aboard a container vessel to augment and upgrade transit operations.
