🌟Meet our labs!🌟At BASE Lab, directed by Dr. Nick Wagner, we are working to better understand the systems and processes that promote psychosocial adaptation or contribute to the emergence of psychopathology across development, from infancy to early adolescence. We are interested in examining how early relationships and individual differences in children’s self-regulation contribute to social-emotional development. Our research examines how these influences shape developmental trajectories across domains of adaptive functioning, including social competence, prosocial and empathic behaviors, and school success, and maladaptive functioning, including aggression, callous-unemotional traits, and anxiety.

We are currently recruiting children ages 7-10 and one of their parents for a Zoom-based study. This study seeks to clarify how parents help to guide their children’s development of empathy, emotion recognition and understanding, and interpersonal skills. During the study the child will complete some computerized games, the parent will complete questionnaires, and the family receives a $25 Amazon gift card as compensation for participation.
