Last Friday undergraduate Raymond Kil spoke at the first student seminar. Raymond searches for soft unclustered energy patterns (SUEP) at CMS detector at CERN. SUEP is a promising candidate for dark matter, a key for understanding the birth and the behavior of the universe. We are very proud of his research and proud that he is a member of our physics department.

We hope you’ve had a great first week back and are looking forwards to having a great semester! :)

P.S. Congrats to Paula for figuring out what a Fourier Transform is!

Preethi Basani will be taking over the physics instagram for the final open house! Preethi is a senior physics major who will be attending the University of Illinois next fall for her Ph.D in Condensed Matter Physics. She is the president of Photon and the head of Prism, both physics undergraduate organizations.

Join us today as Preethi takes us through a day in the life of a Physics Senior.

The winners of the Hieu-Takeover Integration Bee! Richard (left) and Jared (right) stands here and represents for BU Physics! Thank you to all that participated, it was very fun (and a lot of you guys participated). I hope to expand this next year and have it be larger.

Today’s open house takeover will be done by Hieu Nguyen! is a sophomore physics major who is doing research in Condensed Matter Theory with Professor Sperka. Right now he is graphing the data received from conducting proton-proton collisions in order to find reconstructed muons!

Join us and follow the day in the life of Hieu!

The Boston University Physics Geneva Program is a fantastic way for students to conduct important research with CERN. .serafini , a Junior Astrophysics major, is one of those students. Join her instagram takeover today as we follow along with a day in the life of an undergraduate researcher at the Large Hadron Collider.
