I think about this quote a lot. I had the pleasure of attending a week-long workshop with Kathy Richardson about six years ago. While sitting with her and discussing the struggle between keeping to a scope and sequence and giving time for our students to work through the concepts, she said this.

It has stayed with me, and it’s really what sparked my desire to create a space where teachers could dig into the progression of skills and how to provide time for students to work through concepts.

I want us to really understand HOW students develop math concepts, so we can best support our students... whether that aligns with our curriculum pacing or not.
