It’s funny how a painting can feel unfinished for so long, then that one thing comes along and it feels complete. For this painting that was the collage elements. This piece illustrates a feeling of significant disconnect between two people. A lack of harmony, due to differences in values, goals, and beliefs.

I focused on this concept through the process of painting each horse. One was painted with a palette knife and more aggressive marks, while the other side was painted gently with paint brushes.
