How to care for your vellies?

Suede can be easily cared for by light brushing with a clear shoe brush, to remove light stains and dirt. Dusting off after wearing the shoes on each occasion is usually enough to keep them clean, as suede leather is naturally dust-repellant and water resistant (not waterproof!). When vellies are wet after outdoor wear, leave them to dry, and then brush off any stains lightly, with a suede wire brush. Various suede sprays (like Scotchgard) can also be used for long term protection. If you enjoy the old, wise tales of your grandpa, or the old man next door, you can consult him about cleaning your vellies the traditional way using cornstarch (mealie-meal). Else, just turn to the modern “old, wise man”, the internet - you will get plenty of creative ways of keeping your vellies clean in any weather condition.
