For everyone impacted by the wildfires and smoke, please stay safe and stay indoors if the air is hazardous outside. We’ve built an app that can detect air quality and safety in your area. You can download in the Apple Store:

WEEKLY TIP: When ordering food delivery, make sure to opt out of plastic utensils if you’re eating at home!

These one-use plastics add up quickly and end up in the garbage (sometimes not even being used).

Its that time of year where everyone is performing spring cleaning! Before throwing anything away be sure to ask yourself if someone else could use it. If you think there’s a chance, put it aside and bring it to a Goodwill drop off center.
Right now there are a lot of COVID closures going on, and this includes many Goodwill drop off centers. Please stay safe and hold onto your donation items somewhere in your home instead of throwing it away! When things are safe again, someone can still use your old belongings.
Remember it’s important to recycle - but the first 2 things we should always try doing first is reducing and reusing. Stay safe out there everyone!

A good reminder: If the plastic material in question can be wrapped around your finger, it doesn't belong in your recycle bin.
When plastic bags get mixed in with other recyclables, they often jam or damage the machines at materials recovery facilities and slow down the recycling process. Therefore, most communities do not accept plastic bags and other soft plastics through their curbside recycling programs. Many end up either in landfills, littered throughout our streets, or even get mistaken as food by marine animals.
The best thing to do is to stop using plastic bags completely by taking advantage of . However, if you end up with a plastic bag, you still can recycle them. First, check to see if your community’s curbside recycling program accepts plastics bags. If they’re not accepted, make sure you don’t mix them in with other recyclables in your bin. Instead, take them to a drop-off recycling location. Most large grocery chains, home improvement stores, and retailers like Lowes, Home Depot, Wal-Mart and Target provide collection bins, usually by the main entrance.
