Sobriety and Bodywork
Choosing sobriety almost 3 years ago now was one of the most liberating decisions of my life. It wasn’t just about letting go of substances (alcohol and ci******es); it was about stepping fully into the clarity and depth of my being, without filters, and finding a grounded presence in this human experience. Sobriety gave me the opportunity to face patterns that were hiding beneath the coping mechanisms. I had the opportunity to face more and more challenging parts of myself and learn how to love them. I had space to hear my body as well, to feel deeply, and to trust the whispers of my intuition.
My journey with bodywork and commitment to it coincides pretty directly with my sobriety on the timeline. Through studying various modalities and philosophies I continue to learn about the profound intelligence of the body. The fascia—our connective tissue—holds so much of our story. It’s the web that links every part of us, physically and energetically, and its health is deeply tied to our overall well-being. Working with fascia has taught me about the interconnectedness of all things—how tension in one area can ripple through the whole system, and how release can bring a cascade of healing. Much like how a drop of water in a pond ripples out to the edges, or how the mycelial web underneath our feet connects all the trees and plants.
One piece of this journey toward health that has come into my field recently is liquid collagen. Specifically an incredibly bioavailable and well sourced product, which was introduced to me by friend Genie Markwell, a Dr. of Chiropractic and multi-specialist practitioner including nutrition. Collagen is the protein that gives our fascia its structure and resilience. It’s essential for the health of our skin, hair, nails, and joints, but it’s also fundamental to our connective tissue. As a bodyworker, I see how important it is to support the fascia in every way possible, and that includes giving my body what it needs to produce and maintain healthy collagen.
Taking collagen has been a game-changer for me—not just in how I feel physically but also in how I show up for my clients and my creative work. I’m reminded daily that our bodies are special vessels that deserve care, nourishment, and love.
If you’re curious about collagen and how it can support your own journey of healing and vitality, let’s connect. I’d love to share more about what’s worked for me and why it might resonate with you, too.
