Crate training isn't for every dog, but there would certainly be a lot less dogs in shelters if more dogs were crate trained. It prevents so many problems. It helps with house training. It teaches them how to self entertain (give them a safe, chew toy) and patiently be alone. It gives them personal space and quite time, which we all need. It keeps them safe when you are away which is vital in their first 2 yrs of development. And it keeps your stuff safe. All good reasons to crate train.
