Salary need to purchase a median home in 50 different metropolitan areas. In the greater Denver metro, which encompasses 11 counties (typically including Boulder County), that would be $121,888 for a median priced home of $662,200.

Denver was ranked #8 on the list of 50 areas. Highest on the list is San Jose at $330,758 for a $1.875M home, while lowest on the list is Pittsburgh at $42,858 for a home that costs less than 1/10th of that at $185,700.

Denver is #8 highest on the list of 50 major metropolitan areas for income needed to afford to purchase a median priced home. To afford the $662,200 median priced home in the Denver metro you've got to have an income of $121,888. Wow!
