Kara Wandering

I was terrified to share my grief journey publicly. I was shaking when I made the first post. But, something beautiful happened when I shared the most vulnerable part of me. You all showed up. And you’ve kept showing up 🥹 Your texts, dms, comments, check-ins… they’ve kept me going. Never in a million years did I think my internet friends would be a crucial part of my healing journey. Yet here you are. And I can’t thank you enough. ❤️

The mountains have a magical way of healing that’s hard to put into words. They hold you as you are. And remind you that beauty exists. Even amidst overwhelming grief, there is equal beauty.

I must’ve told Kim at least a dozen times how insane it is to live only an hour from this trailhead. Despite living nearby for a decade, I somehow had never been here before yesterday!

We hiked 10 miles and played in the alpine all day with no real destination in mind.

We sat by an alpine lake. Hiked part of a mountain pass then turned around because why not. We stood over cliff ledges. Saw fields of wildflowers. Ran around like children. And marveled at it all.

Not a day goes by that I don’t feel unbelievably lucky to call Colorado home. Even 10 years later, it still has my heart. 🩵
