Our Story

Agile International’s mission is to return Western Africa to food abundance by empowering local women farmers and restoring the cultural wisdom that underlies traditional sustainable agriculture. We seek to break free from the endless cycle of foreign aid and food imports by producing nutritious food, generating enough income to support and educate children, and preserving the cultures and customs that create strong families and communities.

That is Agile International’s Mission. Our founder Fatou Doumbia, has a dream, a dream to empower rural women in Mali and West Africa by restoring food security and the cultural wisdom that underlies traditional sustainable agriculture.

As of today rural communities in Mali and Western Africa face diminished food supply, water scarcity, lack of access to energy, child education, unemployment, unequal status of women and more.

How can we make a change? FOOD! The biggest challenge for women and girls in west Africa is access to land. By increasing land ownership among women, we create the opportunity to generate revenue through food. With this revenue they begin to gain access to capital, education, achieve economic autonomy, food and shelter their families, increased bargaining power at home and in the market place, and move toward gender equality. This is a shift away from traditional land ownership in West Africa, toward building a legacy for generations of women to come!
