He made it. ❤️

Just hours before his scheduled euthanasia, Travis—now Journey—was saved thanks to an incredible team of networkers who refused to give up on him. (Thank you Amanda)

As God painted the sky this beautiful evening, we’re reminded that even in the darkest moments, there is still so much good in this world. People who step up. People who care. People who choose hope.

Tomorrow, Journey will spend the day with Dr. Lamp and the amazing team at Best Care Pet thank to all of YOU, where he’ll receive a full exam, bloodwork, X-rays, and everything needed to help us understand exactly what this sweet boy is facing.

His skin is in heartbreaking condition from a severe case of mange. We know that familiar smell of yeast and damaged skin all too well—but we also know the incredible transformations that can happen with time, love, and exceptional veterinary care. We’ve seen miracles before, and we’re believing Journey has one waiting for him too.

Sleep the sleep of the safe tonight, Journey. Your new forever starts now. ❤️🐾

🦄 Moo Update: Our Medical Unicorn Strikes Again 🦄

Today did not go quite as planned for our brave little Moo.

Moo was scheduled for surgery with the amazing Dr. Heitman at All City Pet Care South, but as he was being prepared for the procedure, Dr. Heitman noticed some things that just didn’t seem quite right. Rather than proceeding and “figuring it out” once surgery began, the decision was made to stop and get a CT scan to better understand exactly what is going on inside our special boy.

The results confirmed what we’ve suspected all along—Moo is truly a medical unicorn. 🦄 We now know there are some extra anatomical surprises contributing to his challenges, and we’re waiting for a radiologist to review the scans so we can fully understand what we’re dealing with and make the best plan moving forward. If all goes well, we’ll try again next week.

We cannot stress enough how important it is to have a veterinarian you trust—someone who is willing to slow down, ask questions, gather more information, and put your pet’s best interests first. Today could have looked very different if Dr. Heitman hadn’t trusted his instincts.

Thank you to Dr. Heitman and the entire staff for taking such incredible care of Moo and for treating him like the special little guy he is. We are beyond grateful for your expertise, compassion, and partnership as we navigate this journey.

Please continue to keep Moo in your thoughts as we wait for answers and prepare for the next step. 💙🐮🦄

From our director:

I broke a rule.

As many of you know, we are currently on intake hold. The reality is that we simply cannot welcome more dogs into rescue until additional funds are raised. That doesn’t stop the pleas for help from coming in. Even on our best days, we say “no” far more often than we get to say “yes.”

But every once in a while, a dog comes along that we simply can’t ignore.

Travis was found as a stray—emaciated, suffering from a severe skin infection, and facing a long list of medical concerns. We watched as his euthanasia deadline drew closer. We shared his information with partner rescues, hoping someone could step in. No one could.

By Friday, his time was measured in hours.

And that’s when we broke the rule.

Despite being on intake hold, despite knowing we shouldn’t be taking on another major medical case right now, we couldn’t let his story end that way. Travis deserved a chance. A chance to be seen. A chance to receive medical care. A chance to know kindness.

Right now, we know very little about him other than that he is gentle, loving, and deserving of every effort we can make on his behalf. Whether he has months, years, or only a short time ahead of him, we believe he deserves to spend that time surrounded by warmth, comfort, and people who care.

But we can’t do it alone.

His medical care will come with a significant cost (estimating $1,800) for heartworm treatment and initial diagnostics and meds, and he urgently needs a foster home where he can safely land while we begin searching for answers.

And one more thing—we think “Travis” deserves a fresh start and a new name for this new chapter of his life. Drop your name suggestions in the comments below.

Thank you for helping us show this deserving boy that his story isn’t over yet. Every dog deserves someone willing to show up for them. ❤️🐾

We’re running out of time.

27 of 50 spots secured

We’re tired. The challenges feel endless. But giving up means dogs with a chance at a better life get left behind—and that’s not something we’re willing to do.

Thank you to everyone who has donated and shared so far. Unfortunately, our plea for help has only been shared by 17 people out of 22,000 followers. The reality is that we can’t raise the funds needed if people don’t see the post.

We need to raise $1,200 TODAY to make this weekend’s rescue mission a reality.

🐾 $50 sponsors a freedom ride for one dog
🐾 Every dollar helps save lives

And for the love of all things holy, if you love dogs, PLEASE share this post. Help us reach more people and show these deserving dogs that more than 17 people care about their future. ❤️
