My last photo trip to the beach was to capture the Black Skimmers that currently are nesting and breeding on the south end of Wrightsville Beach. These birds are incredibly unique; they are a species originally from South America and the Caribbean that migrate to locations all along the east coast in the summer. They have these bright orange and black beaks that are designed for them to fly above the sea and capture fish, which they return to their young. When I observed them, hundreds of them were flying back and forth across the channel foraging for food. These birds are very social and their flocks are quite large, so seeing them is certainly never a dull experience!

Calling all young photographers and filmmakers: I am offering photography and filmmaking lessons, as well as editing lessons, this summer, designed so that parents can go to work and get things done while I hang out with their kids and teach them valuable skills in the arts. Prices are negotiable and you do not need to own a camera or any other photography equipment to participate. I want to spread art and its benefits to other people.
