Incorporating natural elements into your home is a great way to create a peaceful and calming environment. The windchime wall hangings used in this seaside guest bath add a warm and earthy feel to the otherwise very modern space, creating that sense of tranquility.

When designing a home, it's important to remember that balance is key. Finding the perfect balance between modern and traditional, light and dark, and natural and man-made elements is essential to creating a space that feels cohesive and inviting.

I'm inspired by the details - alllll the details. I took this photo of the front door at The Small House because of all the details.

I have always lived in an old part of the country where there's so many different kinds of old mixed with the new, especially in the architecture, and it's so interesting to look closely.

⚡😍 Here's what I saw when I took this photo and how it inspires me...

↪The odd random brick coursing - this could be an exciting idea for a customized tile coursing

↪The 4-panel door with the coke bottle glass could be an intriguing feature on a modern door or as a detail in a cabinet door.

↪The exposed header over the door and the peg detail at the upper corners of the casing would be interesting to try as an interior detail or in another material.

↪The leaded casement window is a great cabinet door detail (that I've used a few times!) or a mirror frame detail.

↪The large turned columns being more ornate in comparison to the simple detailing at the door could be translated to legs on a kitchen island with an otherwise simple, shaker style.

↪The bench outside the front door with a cabinet below is a great inspiration as it is...a place for packages to be left or for friends to wait if you're always late.

↪>> as a P.S. I also LOVE naming houses, whether it's a beach house, a ski house, a guest house or even a garden shed. A client who lets me put a name plaque on the front of their house is definitely my kind of human.
