Several schools are moving from Division II to NCAA Division I, and recruits should know what that means for them.
Le Moyne College, Mercyhurst, West Georgia, and New Haven are all in the NCAA Division I reclassification process. The move can bring more visibility, stronger schedules, new recruiting opportunities, and a bigger athletic stage.
But a transition like this doesn't just happen overnight, so a school can begin competing in Division I before every sport has full NCAA championship access.
That timeline can affect postseason eligibility, scholarships, travel, roster opportunities, conference schedules, and the athlete experience during the years a recruit is actually on campus.
Moving up to D1 is exciting, but athletes should understand the full transition before committing.

NCAA NIL rules are already being challenged, and college athletes and recruits should be paying attention.
The House Settlement was supposed to bring more structure to college sports. Now, there is already a legal fight over how NIL deals, outside sponsors, associated entities, athlete payments, and recruiting-related money should be reviewed.
This is not just a legal issue. It could affect recruiting visits, collective involvement, transfer portal decisions, revenue sharing, scholarship conversations, and how schools compete moving forward.
NIL is still unstable. The rules are still evolving. Schools are still trying to figure out where the lines are.
