You know I had to ask him & he answered correctly. So has my vote. ✅

For the record: any housing plan that doesn’t start with preserving the affordable housing we already have is disingenuous. Period.
If you’re not talking about preservation first, passing **A, and bringing warehoused apartments back online, then you’re not serious about affordability. You’re just using “affordable housing” as cover to help developer donors cash out.

Preservation is the key.

Because what they’re approving right now? It’s not affordability. It’s $3,000+ “affordable” studios with income requirements of $120k–$280k.
That’s not affordablity.
That’s gaslighting.

And to be clear — I’m not against new development. If someone builds as-of-right with private money, charge whatever you want. Go wild.

What I’m against is rezonings + taxpayer subsidies + public land giveaways for luxury buildings with rooftop pools, yoga rooms, lounges, and “conference centers”… and in return we get a small handful of overpriced lottery units — mostly studios, useless for families.
That’s not a housing plan.
That’s a terrible business deal for the city.

We subsidize.
Developers profit.
Working families lose.

And then elected officials pretend they’re clean because they don’t take “real estate money,” while cashing checks from pro-housing PACs funded by the same industry. Come on. They know exactly where that money comes from.

There’s a lot of talk about “affordable housing.”
A lot of rezonings.
A lot of subsidies.
But very little deeply affordable, permanent housing actually getting built.

If it doesn’t start with preservation, it’s not about affordability.
It’s about profits.

**A
