Today, on Flag Day, we celebrate an extraordinary Technite.

🎉 Happy 104th Birthday to Caster Salemi ’40, Brooklyn Tech’s oldest known living alumnus.

Born on June 14, 1922 — the very same year Brooklyn Technical High School was founded — Caster’s life has paralleled more than a century of Tech history. From earning Tech T’s as an Electrical Engineering major, to serving as a Technical Sergeant in the Pacific during World War II, to building a distinguished 39-year engineering career, his story is one of resilience, service, and lifelong learning.

More than 85 years after graduating from Tech, Caster still vividly recalls the school’s grand auditorium, student life, and the pride of being a Technite.

As we honor the American flag today, we also honor a member of the Greatest Generation whose commitment to country, community, and Brooklyn Tech continues to inspire us all.
