🖼️: While Haiti and DRC have been eliminated from World Cup 2026, we are still celebrating their 1974 history-making feat -- being the first to represent the Caribbean and Sub-Saharan Africa in the most current evolution of the global tournament.

Using World Cup 1974 as a window into Black diasporan identity, MoCADA recently unveiled, "Pitch Black: Haiti and Congo Revisited," an exhibition that explores the profound relationship between these sibling countries, Haiti and Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly known as Zaire).

Beneath the surface, the twin countries, which share psychic memory, spiritual roots, and blood through the TransAtlantic Slave Trade and revolution, were contending with a sordid history with imperialistic powers and authoritarian leadership.

Fifty-two years later, our beloved teams returned to the pitch as heroes and ever-connected countrymen. But one question remains: Fight or Flight?

Featured Artists: Eddy Ekete (), Esther Mido (.esther), Fabiola Jean-Louis (), Lafleur & Bogaert (.bogaert), Moke Fils (), Moonshine collective (.mu), Monsengo Shula (), Nic[o] Brierre Aziz (), Nicolas Premier (), Vladimir Cybil Charlier (), as well as legendary archival photos from the 1974 World Cup games.
