Four years ago a Caribbean J'ouvert mass band leader invited me to bring the Brazilian drums and beats to the center of West Indian cultural celebration (West Indian Day Parade).
That was one of the most amazing experience out of my 17 years living in Brooklyn.
There, under the New York Samba School's umbrella, there were samba dancers, capoeira players, percussionists and a bunch of other friends. We were so happy!!!!
We were playing on top of a truck, and from there we could see the community warming up for the parade. I won't ever forget that image!
September 2nd, 2017, at 10 am, folks will start to gather together on Times Square for a celebration of Brazilian community and culture called ESQUENTA of BR DAY, which will bring to you a taste of Rio de Janeiro's Carnival to warm up for the greatest Brazilian event in the US.
I already foresee that this is going to be one more big event that I am proud of being a part of it.
Oxalá I will be much happier if I see you there. Come!!!!
