Summer in NYC means you don't have to look far to find Pratt. ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ‘€

This summer, members of the Pratt community have work on view throughout the five boroughs โ€” from a storefront takeover on 14th Street to a major exhibition at Pratt Manhattan Gallery, a public art sculpture at Columbus Circle tied to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a powerful public art project centering NYC shelter residents, and a subway mosaic that's been welcoming commuters since 2001.

Highlights include:

๐Ÿ”น "Beyond Digital: Living Systems & Distributed Intelligence" at Pratt Manhattan Gallery, curated by alumna Elena Soterakis
๐Ÿ”น Tomokazu Matsuyama's soccer ball sculpture at Columbus Circle
๐Ÿ”น "Public Address," a multi-borough project by faculty member Alex Strada

What does the future of housing look like in cities facing climate change, affordability challenges, and rapid growth?

This spring, Pratt undergraduate architecture students traveled to Miami as part of a new collaboration between Pratt and the University of Miami to rethink housing in coastal communities. Through deep engagement with Miamiโ€™s Overtown neighborhood, its history, infrastructure, and lived experiences, students developed innovative ideas centered on resilience, cultural memory, and community-driven design.

From flood-resilient housing to walkable neighborhoods and creative approaches to public space, this work reflects the power of architecture to imagine more equitable futures.
