“Ghost of a Problem” - the third single and title track of my new album (out May 22nd) - is now available for streaming and digital download! (link in comments)
Through the story of two friends, this song explores the way fear has of lingering in the body and psyche long after the threat - however legitimate or not - has passed.
It’s no accident that this release follows on the heels of “Paper Towel Ballad”; for much of my life, OCD has been the “problem” I’ve so desperately tried to solve.
But as I’ve discovered, no matter how the mind may seek to unburden itself of misplaced (self) blame or impending (implausible) catastrophe, there remains the persistent and maddening thumping - sometimes faint, sometimes deafening - of a heart beneath the floorboards (yes, I’ve been reading Poe). While we may not be able to get rid of it, I believe we can learn to relate to fear in a way that does not cause us so much suffering.
This experience is by no means unique to those with OCD. It applies to anyone who has suffered and struggled to find refuge - in other words, all of us.
Anyway, I hope you find it meaningful and can rock out to it a little too.
