Gather Around the Table

These wild horses, known as the Banker horse is a breed that was brought by Spanish ships 500 years ago. When the ships came to America they were either trying to unload a large amount of weight to sail back, or were shipwrecked, leaving these horses 🐎 on the northern end in three of the areas on the barrier island of the Outer Banks. A strong & feral breed, they have continued to reproduce and roam on over 7,000 acres of national and private land, getting their nutrients from the grass, trees, and other things that grow along the coastline and sound, while drinking from two natural watering holes and an occasional drink from the ocean. This year in Spring there were 8 more foals born, continuing the legacy ❤️
