Sunday, June 22 at 3pm join artist Lizania Cruz in a consciousness-raising gathering on heat and its effects on humans and nature.
☀️
The past ten years have been the hottest on record for the planet. According to the NYC Panel on Climate Change, in 2050 New York City could become as hot as Alabama, potentially impacting the number of heat-related deaths and exacerbating the “urban heat island effect” in the city.

Join us on Sunday, April 27 from 2–4 PM for a performance by 2024–2025 A.I.R. Fellow Lu Yim featuring themselves, Kate Williams, Nam Pham, Stine An, and Cynthia Chang.
🖤
The performances will draw from found and fictional archives at the 38th Parallel of the Korean Peninsula to foreground Western imperialism’s long history of weaponizing sound and voice. Utilizing somatic inquiry and embodied disability practices, the performers explore the “hard to grasp” nature of sensation and consider how bodily dissociation might serve as an analogue for the experience of virtuality.

If you can’t make it this week visit the link in our bio to see other times Lu will be performing!

We're excited to update Saturday's reading to include the fiction writer Daisuke Shen () on top of an already stellar line up including poet Aristilde Kirby (), and former A.I.R. Fellow and writer Funto Omojola ()!

Reflecting on themes from the Biennial, the event explores the vulnerability of forming real-life intimacies amidst the tension between digital entanglements and analog experiences. With dreams serving as a metaphor for reconciling the real and imagined, the readings reflect on how language—written, spoken, or expressed through the body—navigates the delicate terrain of connection. It will begin at 4pm.

We hope to see you there!
