Donuts Are Forever has always been more than just a party. It’s community, culture, and music coming together the Detroit legend, and a fundraiser supporting the work we do at , providing free music education and career pathways for young creatives. 💫🔊

This year’s lineup includes killer DJ sets by , , and co-founder , someone I’ve learnt so much from. She was one of the first DJs to play my music on radio when I was just starting out, and has been a real influence on how I think about being a creative rooted in community. 🙏🏽✨

A special prelude to the 20th edition of (going down in April, more details soon). Please join us at on Friday, February 6 from 7-11pm as we gather to listen to the seminal James “J Dilla” Yancey album Donuts on vinyl on a custom nightclub-grade audio setup provided by Brooklyn’s own 🍩🔊💖

After that writer and cultural worker will lead an in-depth discussion about the album, Dilla’s legacy and more, with special guests (award-winning author of Dilla Time), (award-winning filmmmaker of Summer of Soul and Sly Lives!), and artist/producers .101 and .

All ticket sales benefit — dedicated to creating music education programs for underserved youth and young adults in NYC.

to Feb 2020, when I attended/worked my first party. Literally a month before the world shutdown. But that night was such a vibe, so special—I got to check out and ‘s sets for the first time ever and also meet them IRL🤩✨, I saw in his element as the emcee 🤩✨, I met some really awesome people who became friends and mentors soon after 🫶🏽✨, and also got to hang out with fellow peeps outside of work 🫶🏽✨(even though this was work, it didn’t feel like it hahaha).

We’re doing things a little differently this year, we’re celebrating 20 (yes it’s the 20th anniversary) in two parts. Part one is a listening session and panel celebrating Dilla’s album and his legacy. And that’s happening tomorrow, Friday Feb 6th 7pm and onwards at . ✨🍩
