🎭 In the Spotlight
This week, we're shining the spotlight on Julia, our Child Scrooge in A Christmas Carol! ✨
Julia has been part of the BackStory family for four years, and watching her grow has been such a joy. From being a shy young performer who didn't want to speak on stage to confidently stepping into the spotlight as Teddy Roosevelt in Newsies, her journey is a beautiful reminder of what happens when kids are given the space to grow.
Here's what BackStory means to Julia:

The Glow Up: Stage Edition was full of creativity, confidence, and a little movie magic! 🎭
Our eight young performers explored three different makeup looks:
💋 Simple stage makeup
🩹 Special effects bruises
🦄 Fantasy eye and face designs
Along the way, they learned why stage makeup is different from everyday makeup, how it helps tell a story under bright stage lights, and even picked up some skincare tips to keep their skin healthy. ✨
Watching each actor transform their look, and their confidence, was so much fun!

🎭 In the Spotlight
This week we're celebrating one of our biggest BackStory champions: Michaela! ✨
Not only is she the mom of three amazing BackStorians, but she also teaches, volunteers, and shows up with a smile whenever and wherever she's needed. Whether she's helping behind the scenes or greeting you at the door, Michaela embodies the community spirit that makes BackStory so special.
Her BackStory journey began when her oldest daughter attended a Make Believe & Beyond camp at age 9. Four years later, all three of her children have found a love of theatre here.
